Nashiji-Sumisai BV Fuchitachi Flat Plate L

Riso Porcelain's Nashiji-Sumisai BV Fuchitachi Flat Plate takes its name from three distinct qualities. Nashiji refers to the dappled, pear-skin-like surface that appears when fine particles distribute unevenly across the glaze during firing. Sumisai, meaning "ink coloring," describes the glaze's muted, ink-washed tone of olive green and white that shifts in depth from the center outward, evoking the gradations of traditional Japanese sumi ink painting. Fuchitachi refers to the standing rim, a clean, upright edge that gives the otherwise flat plate a defined boundary and a quietly structural presence.

Together, these three elements produce a plate with the visual depth of ink wash on stone, grounded in Arita porcelain's centuries-old tradition of surface refinement. Designed by Shinichi Terauchi, made in Arita, Japan. Available in S, M, and L.
